MHOA Burn Pit Closed Until Further Notice May 8, 2019
Recent conversations with fire officials have caused the MHOA Board to stop use of the slash/burn pit until we can reconsider our plan for this facility. More information will be forthcoming.

An alternative slash disposal site is:

      Fairplay Slashsite
      21925 Hwy 285, Fairplay
      at Mountain View Waste Transfer Station entrance
      Open Saturdays only, 9am-4pm through October.

BURN PIT UPDATE: The burn pit was successfully burned on Saturday, November 17. Many thanks to those who gave up their Saturday to be on hand to help with it: Richard, Steve, Rob, Erik, Leroy and Leon. The burn pit is still closed until additional work is completed. There is work yet to be done with the ash pile and preparations need to be made for the smaller burn pits. Stay tuned for further updates on the burn pit.

MHOA snow plowing policy: The association has 13.5 miles of roads. When our roads receive over 6 inches of snow, we will plow the roads. If there is a major storm, the plows will wait for the storm to break before plowing, just as we have done in the past. Priority roads are Michigan Hill, Georgia Pass and Glacier Peak, then the remaining roads will be plowed as needed. Plan is to double pass in morning to make sure that people can get out, then go back and clean out as needed. The plow drivers will keep an eye on drifting areas and plow as needed. Drifts tend to build on Glacier Peak, plan accordingly. MHOA will be responsible as far as our right-of-way to Earnest Driveway just beyond the south end of Michigan Hill Road, beyond that are county roads which is not MHOA responsibility. WANTED:  Cooks to compete in the South Park Wild West Chili Cook-Off sponsored by the Jefferson Community Civic Association Saturday, January 16th, 2016 at the Jefferson Community Center.  The entry fee is $10.00. Chili should arrive by 4:30 p.m. in a crockpot.   First prize will be the winner’s name on a plaque displayed in the Jefferson Community Center plus a cash prize.  Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for tasting and voting.  The charge for this is $5.00.  Entry forms with fee must be received by the JCCA no later than Wednesday, January 13th,2016.  Please call (719) 836-0477  for an entry form or go to JCCA website.

Jefferson Community Civic Association annual Valentine’s Day Dinner, Saturday, February 13th, 2016.  This will be held at the Jefferson Community Center. The dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the cost is $10.00 per person.  Entertainment will be provided and Valentine Bingo will follow. Come and enjoy dinner with your special Valentine or Valentine’s.  Singles are welcome.

In an effort to minimize and prevent the ravages of wildland fire to our community, Jefferson-Como Fire Protction District (JCFPD) has elected to impose a $250.00 impact fee to all new residential and commercial construction permits applied for through Park County with-in the JCFPD. Questions regarding the collection of rainwater have been directed to the board after a story aired on 9News recently. The story mentioned that in 2009 Colorado changed part of the rainwater collection ban for properties with private wells. The 2009 law change applies only to those private wells that are permited as "domestic" and allow for irrigation. Please note that all of MHOA wells are permited for "in-house use only" and the 2009 law change does not apply to MHOA residences. Click here to view the Rainwater Collection flyer from the State of Colorado. FAQs specifically address private wells for "in-house use only". MHOA properties are not allowed to collect rainwater.

The MHOA augmentation pond was stocked today. The limit is 2 fish for anyone 15 years of age and younger, everyone else is catch and release. Their are six grass carp for maintaining the pond grass, if you catch one, please just cut your line and relaease the fish back in to the pond. Any fish that is catch and swallows the hook, you can cut your line and the fish will naturally reject the hook after a few days. Thanks and good fishing.

The MHOA augmentation pond has been restocked with fish. We had a low water condition over the winter and we waited until we could confirm that we did not have an issue with the pond or the pond drain value before restocking. Enjoy and remember adults are catch and release only. If the fish swallows the hook, just cut the line. If you catch a grass carp, please release it back so they can help control the weeds growing in the pond. Finally, for those younger fishers, 16 and under, you can keep two fish if you like. Thank you.

A letter from Hindman Sanchez reviwing the MHOA governing documents and a clean version of the DRAFT restated MHOA Bylaws is available online on the Documents page. Again, the issue has been to bring all of our governing documents in compliance with Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act. This draft will be presented to the Board of Directors at the next Board meeting, June 9th. We invite you to submit your comments to the Board Members by June 4th 2012, so that comments can be reviewed at the next meeting board of director's meeting on June 9th at 1 PM at 609 Glacier Peak View (Fred Deepenbrock's home). The membership will vote to accept or reject the changes to the Bylaws and to accept or reject the new Policy Rules at the Annual Membership meeting, June 16th, 2012. Finally, a letter from the MHOA Regulations Committee to the Owners, dated 5-2-2012 is available online on the Documents page under the Newsletters section.

Eight Board of Directors approved Policy Rules - "The Homeowner's Bill of Rights" as required by Colorodo SB 100 & SB 89 and a draft of proposed changes to the Bylaws have been posted on the Documents page. The draft of the Bylaws was revised using an analysis prepared by Hindman Sanchez Law Firm for the MHOA Board. Again, the issue has been to bring all of our governing documents in compliance with Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act. This draft will be presented to the Board of Directors at the next Board meeting, June 9th. We invite you to submit your comments to the Board Members by June 4th 2012, so that comments can be reviewed thoughtfully at the next meeting. The membership will vote to accept or reject the changes to the Bylaws at the Annual Membership meeting, June 16th, 2012. Thanks in advance for your input.

A potluck lunch 30 minutes after the meeting is adjourned will be held at Fred Depenbrock's home, 609 Glacier Peak View.    Please bring a covered dish to share. An Executive Board Session via teleconference was held Tuesday evening, 11/29/11 at 7:30PM. Sallie Baker, Jerry Clinton, Fred Depenbrock, Patrick Strong and Carol Smusz were present. A QUORUM was established as all board members were present.

Jerry Clinton made a motion to accept a contract with Kari Barber, DBA Jetta Inc to snow plow Michigan Hill roads from December 1, 2011 to April 30, 2012 for $60.00 per hour per plow, with a minimum of 10 hours per month and $25 per hour to operate the road grader. Carol Smusz seconded the motion. There being no further discussion, the motion passed.

With no further business, Fred moved we adjourn the meeting and Carol seconded it. Meeting was adjourned.

The Annual Michigan Hill Work Day is Saturday, July 16, 2011, 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Meet at the Johnson's house at 1163 Michigan Hill Road at 7:45 AM. Trailers, chain saws and volunteers are needed and bring your gloves. Lunch follows at the Johnson's house. Bring a side dish to share. Hope to see you there.

Board of Directors meeting 7/16/11 at 4:00 PM, at Fred and Leslie Depenbrock's house, 609 Glacier Peak View.

The meeting is open to all owner's, so please make time to attend. The purpose of this meeting is to give ample time for an open discussion of issues on Michigan Hill and to discuss the process of revising our by-laws to fit the Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act, Article 33.3.

There will be an executive session of the MHOA Board at 5:00 or 5:30, immediately following the Open Board Meeting.

Volunteers needed! There is a work day scheduled for Saturday, August 29th. Hours are 8 AM - 2 PM followed by a picnic at 3 PM. Meet at the Johnson's house, 1163 Michigan Hill Road at 8 AM. Bring gloves, tools (chainsaw and shovels) and trailers if you have them available. We will be working at the pond, along the roads removing trees, cleaning culverts and fixing the fence at the burn pit. The picnic will be at the Johnson's home at 3 PM, bring a side dish, everyone welcome. Backup date is September 5th if the weather is bad on August 29th.

Sheldon Burton has agreed to assume the remaining portion of the snow plowing contract which was awarded to Tom Clinton. Due to health issues Tom is no longer able to complete the work. We all thank Tom for his many years of hard work and service to our association. The contract is effective throught April 30, 2009 and covers seven (7) months of road plowing each snow season. Sheldon can be contacted at 719-836-1403 to report road conditions on the hill. All issues, if any, need to be address to Jerry Dean, board member responsible for the roads on the hill.

The snow plowing contract has been completed with Tom Clinton. The three year contract is effective from October 1, 2006 throught April 30, 2009 and covers seven (7) months of road plowing each snow season. We all thank Tom and Jerry Dean for arriving at a fair agreement for the MHOA.

There will be a very brief board meeting on Friday night (10/6/06) at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be held at Loretta Hubert's house located at 8532 South Wadsworth Court in Littleton. The agenda of the meeting is finalize the snow plowing contract with the selected contractor Tom Clinton.

The agenda of the meeting is to open the road contract bids and review them. After the boards review, the meeting will be adjourned.

There will be a MHOA board meeting at 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 11th at the residence of Dennis Sherman located at 936 Michigan Hill Road, Jefferson, Colorado. The agenda is to set up the agenda for the annual meeting and to complete the final draft of the new road contract, followed by an executive session to discuss the outstanding contractual issues that need to be settled. Following the closed door session the board will reconvene and vote on the new contract.

There will be a MHOA board meeting at 10:00AM on Sunday, April 30th at the residence of Dennis Sherman located at 936 Michigan Hill Road, Jefferson, Colorado. The agenda will consist of a brief discussion of the proposed road maintenance contract, followed by a closed door executive session to draft the actual road maintenance contract.
